Chevrolet Repair: Power Window Motors, haynes repair manual, passenger windows

Question
I was told that I needed to replace the power window motors for both the driver and passenger windows on my 1999 Monte Carlo.

Is there someplace that I can go to get a detailed description on how to do this myself, starting at the door panel removal to the motor and back again. I have a Haynes repair manual, but it doesn't give that kind of information.

The price I was quoted from a repair shop was just unbelievable, so I have to see if I can repair it myself.

Thank You

Steve

Answer
Hi Steve,
At the public library, in the refference section, they should have every manual printed for that vehicle. Look through some of them, and make some copies.

Now...if both of those motors quit at the same time...it may be something besides the motors. If one quit, and sometime later the other quit, maybe motors, but both at the same time, I would suspect a switch in the drivers door, a circuit breaker, or a fusible link. It would be unusual for two motors to go bad at exactly the same time.

Some of the manuals will have a troubleshooting chart, as well as info on door panel removal.
