Chevrolet Repair: dome light flickering, chevy cavalier, dome light

I recently ran out of gas in my 1990 chevy cavalier 5spd.  I put gas in it and it runs fine except just before it ran out the dome light and fasten seat belt light and dome light flickered at random and then more consistent intervals and is still doing so after I got gas in the car.  Are these things related?  What would you suggest I check?

I doubt the 2 problems are related to your running out of gas.

What mechanical work or ANY kind of work has been performed on the vehicle recently ?. As most problems that occur after a recent repair was made can be traced back to the area of where the repair was made as a wire connection came loose, Look around in the area where work was performed.
