Chevrolet Repair: Do I need a fuel Pump?, 2000 chevy z71, tensioner pulley

Question
On My 2000 Chevy Z71 (high milage) there is a squealing noise coming from my engine, it is easily heard when I am idling in my driveway.
I have been told by several semi-knowledgable people that I need a fuel pum ASAP.  My question is: How much does it ot should it cost and do you think the fuel pump is the problem?

sorry I don't have more info !

Answer
Hello Mark,

A 2000 Z71 would have the fuel pump inside the fuel tank. I don't think it is your problem.

Some things in the engine compartment or engine that could cause squeeling are the serpentine belt, the alternator, the power steering pump, the water pump, the idler or tensioner pulley, A/C compressor clutch hub, the oil pump, or an internal engine part.
