Chevrolet Repair: 1986 Suburban reverse light switch, neutral safety switch, j c whitney

Question
My 1986 Suburban's reverse lights are on the fritze, and the bulbs are not the problem.  Is the reverse light switch a do-able repair for someone without a garage or specialty tools?

P.S. :  Would you know anywhere to find replacement inner rear wheel well panels for this truck?  I can get front panels from J.C. Whitney, but the rears are strangely absent...

Answer
The reverse light switch is on the steering column, near the floor board. No special tools, but you might find it easier to lower the steering column.
Check the fuse first, and the wires. Remove the bulbs, and see if power is getting back to them. A ground wire could be the problem, but I doubt it, since both are out, and the other lights work.

That switch is adjustable, also. But it is also the neutral safety switch.

A salvage yard should be able to find the fender panels for you.
