Chevrolet Repair: Transmission, chevy camaro, ball park

Question
I love your website.  Very quick responses, unlike that other website.

Anyways, I have a 1996 Chevy Camaro.  It drives well and everything.  I have a tranny question.  Under REGULAR driving, what is the proper tachometer reading when the transmission is supposed to shift?  I was told between 2 and 2.5 RPMs

Answer
I have been building transmissions for over 25 yaers and WHEN IS the time to shift it depends upon the:

1. Size of the engine.
2. Gearing of the transmission.
3. gearing of the rear axle.

A ball park everyday driving vehicle would be about 2.5.
