Chevrolet Repair: 1993 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer, fuel pressure gauge, fuel pressure regulator

Question
Automobile has afuel-injected V-6 engine and will not start without starting fluid. I have changed the fuel injector, fuel pump twice, coil, plugs wires cap and rotor, fuel filter, magnetic pickup, igniton module, and it still refuses to start in the morning about 90% of the time. After getting it to start it will run very smooth but will only start about 50% of the time. Any help or suggestions on what to do next would be greatly appreciated as this car is about to drive me nuts. Thank you

Answer
Hi Dennis, This problem is almost aways the fuel pump or pulsator. The pulsator is the part that the pump slides into, it is between the steel line and the pump. There is a rubber seal in it that goes bad. I would install a fuel pressure gauge on the truck and watch the pressure as you go to start it. It should go up to around 50 or 55 lbs very fast and hold there with the key on and engine off. If it drops off quick then there is a problem either with the injector which has the fuel pressure regulator in it, ot the pulsator or pump. If the pump is new you can rule that out, same with the injector.

Hope this helps you.
