Chevrolet Repair: 94 chevy s10 v6 air conditioning, chevy s10, silver bottle

Question
I have put in new  RFwhatever it's called (non freon) into my airconditioner with the "leak" fix kit. Supposidly it will show red where there is a leak, then it will fix the leak, and  then fill it up. It seemed to work fine actually, and i didn't notice any leaks, but after having the air on for about 20 min. I noticed that the vacuum would cycle on and off over and over. I would loose power in my engine a little (which is natural) but this was cycling much more  than it used to to gain pressure. Is it possible that there could be a bigger leak than this could fix?
Or something else. How much would it cost to fix that in Southern California.

p.s. this is the same truck with the engine mount problem. i forgot to tell you it was a  V6 4.3 L 2 wheel drive. ooops.

Thanks again.
this  one isn't  as rushed.

Answer
Hi Scott,
I hope you are out there working on the mounts.
You say the vacuum cycles, but don't you mean the compressor?

I would just guess that it wasn't working before at all, and you have added just enough to the system to make it close the pressure switch on the accumulator,(the big silver bottle looking thing). The switch closes, the compressor runs, the pressure drops du to the compressor running, so the switch opens, then repeats.
That would be a normal scenario for a low charge. You may just need to add a little more.

And it is possible that it just overcame the leak temporarily, and has leaked down again to the low charge level. Add some more, and see if it quits again in 20 minutes.

Good luck, and I have no idea what it would cost, but I can promise you, it will hurt before they are done.
