Question -
I own a 1994 Chevy 2500.  It has a lever style 4x4 shifting mechanism (not push button).  It recently began taking a long time to engage when pulled into four high.  I replaced the actuator on the front differential, it helped some but it it is still slow to engage.  I was told there is another sensor located on the transfer case but I dont know if it is the problem, or what it is called.  Any information you can provide would be great.  If you need additional please contact me at the email provided.

Thank you
Answer -
Look on the front axle and there should be, If memory serves a vacuum operated actuator and closer to the differential there should be a 2 wire electrical THERMAL BULB ACTUATOR.

IF your vehicle HAS this THERMAL BULB ACTUATOR you can remove it from the differential and by applying battery voltgae and a ground wire to this bulb fo ONLY a 1/2 second, You should see the bulb start to expand at the bottom of the sensor. If it does NOT expand, Replace it.

There should also be another vacuum actuator and or thermal bulb on the transfer case, IF memory serves, Check these for proper operation.

I do NOT have a 1994 Chevy 4x4 electrical vacuum/schematic or I would e-mail it to you for help with your diagnostics.

I DO have an 1989 that MAY or may NOT be similar.
