Chevrolet Repair: heated seats, electrical schematics, gmc sierra

Question
My 2001 GMC Sierra heated leather seats (I am a cold-blooded sissy) only work once in a while.  Low and high current circuit fuses are not blown, and the hi/low/off lights in both door controls light up.  Someone suggested it was the actual seat heaters that needed replacement, but why would all heaters in both seats fail at the same time ?  Also, the intermittant failure began when the truck was only a couple of years old.  Sounds more like a common component to both sides...  This problem is also hard to diagnose because you can't immediately tell if the seats are working or not until they get warm.  Thanks in advance for any help or advice in isolating the problem !

Answer
(I am a cold-blooded sissy). You SAID IT, I didn't. What next, fresh brewed coffe when you turn ON the ignition. A COLD BOTTOM keeps you awake.

You DO realize that some models require the seat belts to be connected together in order for the seat heaters to work for your tender bottom.

This is NOT hard to diagnose, All you need is an AMP METER connected between the ORANGE wire and it's connection point on the seat switch and a standard 12 volt test light.

QUESTION: Can you read an electrical schematic and follow some very basic diagnostic procedures?.
