Chevrolet Repair: chevy van radiator, dexcool antifreeze, chevy van

Question
hi, I have a 1995 chevy g-20 van, 5.7 liter engine. it originally
used the orange antifreeze in the radiator. about 2 years ago the
formerly orange stuff became thick , very messy, rusty brown
gunked up stuff. I have had numerous flushes and had the
radiator redone (in a shop).
what should I do? someone suggested that perhaps green anti
freeze got mixed in but since we redid the radiator we keep
using the orange. is this adversely affecting my engine
performance and life expectancy?
Thank you,amy

Answer
Hi Amy, Don't use the Dexcool antifreeze (orange stuff). I would flush that stuff out and install the cheaper and better green stuff. There has been problems with the orange coolant getting rusty looking and what appears to be dirt in it. They say this is caused from air getting into the cooling system. If your radiator plugs up you could overheat your engine and cause damage but other then that it won't hurt your engine.
