Chevrolet Repair: Transfer Case, np 208 transfer case, transfer case

I have an 82 Stepside 3/4 ton 4x4 with a NP-208 transfer case. I need to change the fluid in the transfer case and want to know how much ATF fluid it will take to fill it and if I should use any certain kind of ATF.          THANKS,JD

Hello JD,
The owners manual would be the best source for that information.
But without that, there is nothing special about the fluid. DexronII or III would be just fine.
It is only going to take two ar three quarts, but if you catch the old stuff and measure it, that will be pretty close.
Fill to the bottom of the fill hole, at any rate.
