Chevrolet Repair: 1981 Monte Carlo door alignment is off, alignment problem, door hinges

Question
My husband's driver side door won't close unless he physically lifts it up to align the bolt thingee that sticks out from the side of the car with the opening in the door so they latch together.  He says he believes the fix is an easy one and it may have something to do with the hinges...do you have any suggestions for fixing his alignment problem?  Thanks.

Answer
Hello letetia, There is a problem with the door hinges and you need to locate the worn parts and replace them. It is most times just the bushing in the hinge pin that wear out. When you put in the bushngs the door will close just like new.
