Chevrolet Repair: wipers wont quit, delta 88, wiper motor


Question
I have a 1985 olds delta 88 with wiper controls on the turn signal. when i turn the wipers on it takes about 5 min to shut then off. i have a friend that said it is the wiper motor i think it is the switch. what do you think?

I think it is probably the park system in the motor.
You can isolate the switch by finding the connection where the wires come out of the steering column, about where your knees would hit.
May need to remove some cover.
But unplug the connector, and if the wipers continue to run, the switch isn't the problem.
Some cars about that age have a separate module for the intermittent wiper timer, and the problem could be there. It should be beside the light switch, or in that area.
