Chevrolet Repair: 1993 Lumina sedan A/C, compressor clutch, dash vents

Question
My air worked fine last season, although dash vents did not open. air circulated from flr/def ducts.  This season compressor clutch does not engage when called.  Has been converted to R-134.  I am selling this car and would prefer to not replace compressor. Could it be the relay?  I noticed illumination was out in the HVAC control, but not the red indicator lights. Related?  Are dash vents vaccuum or servo motor?  Pleas advise where to start diagnosis on these repairs.  Car is a 93 Euro w/3.1 and 3 speed auto (no OD).  Thanks

Answer
Hi Brian, The first thing to do is make sure that the freon charge is good. This could be all that is wrong with the a/c clutch not coming on. I'm not sure on the vents, But I think that they are vacuum. I remember a hose the ran next to the battery that was made out of black plastic. This hose would get a hole in it from the acid in the battery. Check this out and let me know what you find.
