Chevrolet Repair: A/C & Heating, blower motor resistor, chevy monte carlo

Question
I purchased a 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo with 27000 original miles. It's a V8. The car runs great the only problem is the a.c and heater does not work.
We turn it on and nothing happens.
We checked the fuses but there is no problem there.
Please advise the potential problem.

Thanks

Answer
Hi Lorena, Turn the key on and turn the heater fan switch to hi. Now with a test light check for power at the purple wire going to the blower motor. If you have power, the next thing is to touch the test light to the metal part of the blower motor. It shouldn't light, if it does you have a bad ground to the motor. If it doesn't then your blower motor is bad. If you have no power at the purple wire then you need to test for power at the blower motor resistor. If you don't have power here then you need to go to the dash switch and test there.
