Chrysler Repair: instrument cluster wiring, 99 LHS

QUESTION: 99 chrysler lhs. Oil light, odometer, shift indicator lights stay on and drain battery when car is off. Oil light not on when running, but check engine is. Just replaced hood, radiator support, radiator, and headlight assemblies, now there's no alarm sensor for hood, don't know if that has anything to do with it.
Any idea?

ANSWER: There may be an issue with the ignition switch. But first, do some self-diagnosis.
For the cluster, with the ignition in the lock position, press and  hold the trip reset button and turn the key to unlock. Then release the button to see the cluster go through some self-tests. Note anything unusual.
Then turn the ignition switch 'on-off-on-off-on and leave on' doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time, then watch the odometer window to see if the mileage reading is replaced by a 4-digit number preceded by a P. If so let me know the number.
When did the cluster problems occur during the replacements? Which wiring if any did you remove/install?

QUESTION: Haven't done the trip reset yet, the codes are P 1490 & P 1489. The radiator fans didn't work, clip smashed, and i ground the hood alarm pin wire. It sat with most of the front clip off and no battery for 4-5 months, didn't get put back in until put back together, the fans weren't working then so I hard wired them with a switch and inline fuse, but the problem started before that.  It starts and runs fine but haven't left the driveway.

Hi Nick,
Let us see if there are some fuses that are carrying voltage when the ignition switch is Off, and they shouldn't be:
In the box in the cabin you should only find fuses 1,6,7,15,16,18,19 to show 12v, so do all the others NOT show 12v? Be sure fuse 14 is "cold".
Codes 1489 and 1490 just say the relay circuits for the fans are out of order, which you already know.
So let me know about voltage or not on those fuses in cabin box.
On the hood alarm and its wire, where is that sensor located and the wire color. I don't find that sensor in the wiring diagrams so am wondering if it could be 'after market'?
