Chrysler Repair: car wont stay running; dies in 2 seconds

Question
Hi Roland
I been having this problem for quite a while now, my car would start and run good, and some times not it would start and die after about 2 seconds. This it would happen about 6 times and then not even crank. What I notice that that ASD fuse (not the relay)rattles for about 10 seconds and stops and then starts every time I just have to wait to the rattle stops, but if I try to started when is rattling it would start but it would die after 2 sec. My question is if that ASD fuse controls any sensors or something that is not letting the car run
Thank you Roland for your help

Answer
Hi Guadalupe,
The experience you described about 'die after 2 seconds' is what happens when the theft security system has not been disarmed properly. It may be that the door key wiring is flakey if you are using a key to open the car and if so it is still armed when you try to start it. Notice the alarm system warning light to be sure it is off before trying to start. You can also try the passenger side door lock to disarm it. Or try the remote fob if you have that alternative. Then after 6 unsuccessful tries to start and armed situation it will shut down for a while.
The ASD fuse/relay is involved in shutting down the engine from running so that will activate the ASD relay/deactivate it and that may be the noise you are hearing when the theft system is not disarmed and you try to start it.  Normally, the ASD relay will click and then unclick when you turn the key to 'run' and go no further, but then it will click again when you try the starter so as to operate the fuel pump/spark plugs, and will remain activated as long as you are cranking the starter motor or if the engine does start and run normally the ASD will remain closed.
