Chrysler Repair: car stereo

Question
QUESTION: i have 2001 sebring lxi coupe with infinity car radio system w/amp. The radio works with no sound. The amp (infinity mr472783) is blown. I took the passenger seat out and removed the amp. I would like to rewire so that i can have the radio directly to the speakers with no amp.

ANSWER: Hi Anthony,
If the Infinity radio/amp combo was factory-installed then if you lost the function of the amp I think you will either need to find a working amp identical to blown one, or replace the radio with one that was factory-installed in this model that was a stand-alone radio with a built-in amp. Are you certain that amp is blown rather than the power supply to it is blown?
I would be inclined to try to find a used mr472783 amp as that would not require any rewiring. I have the '03 manual which has the troubleshoot pages for when the amp stop working.
Please read the PS (below) and respond to it.
Thanks for doing that.

QUESTION: Thank you for your quick response. The amp is blown. It seems like something was spilled like coffee and a lot of "garbage" was falling out when tilted. So basically what you are saying is that i can not use this radio alone without the amp, correct? I would either need to purchase this amp or buy instead a radio with a built in amp? What other amps from infinity or chrsyler that are compatible?

Answer
Hi Antbony,
Correct, I would believe that the radio itself doesn't have an amp which would power the speakers. My thought is that a replacement amp would be the best approach so as to be sure it provides the correct output match-up to the speakers and the wiring would just be plug and play. You can go to a dealer parts department and likely compare the two different radio's component parts that were sold for that vehicle, but beyond that I am afraid I don't have the experience to recommend something other than the Infinity.
Please consider doing another rating of me, and this time also say "yes" to a "nomination" of me for "volunteer of the month".
Thanks,
