Chrysler Repair: Concorde security system issue

QUESTION: Hi
I have a 2002 Concorde with about 146k on it.  It occasionally will not start (nothing).  I asked a friend who's mechanically inclined and he advised it is often an issue with the security system.  He advised to lock it and unlock it and give it a try.  Well, that worked!  However, it continues to do this intermittently and sometimes it takes a while to get it to start.  I sometimes have to watch the red alarm indicator on the dash flash 16 times then start it.  Is there a way to disable the security system or get it to start without a 007 sequence of key turns?  Ever heard of this?

ANSWER: Hi Andy,
The most common reason for this problem is that the disarming of the system is not being accomplished when you unlock the door with a key. That is because the wire from the key lock is no longer connected to the body control module. The passenger side door lock wire is probably still working but using that to disarm is not too convenient.
Your choice if that is the case is to repair the wire break (probably at the door hinge) or to not activate the security system when you leave the car. To avoid setting the alarm you have to rely ONLY on the mechanical door lock buttons. Don't use power door locks, door key, or key fob as all those will have the possibility of arming the security system.
The system is built-in to the body control module so there is no way to disconnect it. Just avoid doing those things that activate it.

Hi Andy,
The vehicle theft security armed allow the starter to crank over the engine and to start and run, but only for about 2 seconds. So if it won't activate the starter, or start and run for 2 seconds then that is a different problem.
The wire from the driver door lock is light green/orange and connects to pin 13 of the blue plug at the body control module under the dash. You can either remove the door inner panel or see if you can find at the hinge where there is a black 16-pin disconnect mounted in the door frame and that wire is on pin 7. You can thus check it from there to the body control, and the other part of the circuit would be 12v on pin 3 of that same disconnect which connects to the door switch proper. So you could check to see if when you do a lock action you see 12v on pin 11 momentarily which would check for the completion of the circuit between the incoming 12v and the outgoing 12v that goes to pin 13 of the bcm.
