Chrysler Repair: honda civic 2001 not staying on after a front left crash, honda civic 2001, crash sensor

hey I just had a car crash in the front left of my honda civic 2001
and the engine goes but it does int seem to stay on , so im wondering if a crash sensor was activated ,, and its preventing it from staying on ????

Hi Javier,
While I am not familiar with the Honda crash intervention system, it is the case that when a crash is sensed that the fuel pump and spark are typically shut down so that the possibility of a fire is reduced. It may well be that the powertrain controller needs to be reset so as to allow the resumption of normal engine operation. In the case of theft system issues and Chrysler the engine will start but will shut down after a second or two until the alarm is cleared. So it is certainly possible that what you need is reset the system (and possible repair an item that might be seen by the system as in the crash mode. You could try disconnecting/reconnecting the - post of the battery to see if that might clear it.
