Chrysler Repair: 98 JA body(cirrus/stratus/breeze): HVAC air distribution problem, hvac air, plymouth breeze

Question
I have a 1998 Plymouth Breeze and the A/C started jumping around from central to feet to windshield on its own and know is just stuck on windshiled. If you try switching where the A/C blows out it doesnt change just stays on the windshield. It is still blowing cold air just wont come out the right vents. Any idea on how to fix this problem or what can cause this problem?

Thanks,

Isaac

Answer
Hi Isaac,
It could be that the mode door (which moves the air to various locations) is out of calibration. It will automatically recalibrate if you go to the fuse box behind the left end-cap of the dash and remove fuse #5 (10 amp). for a couple of minutes, then reinsert and it will do the calibration. If that doesn't fix it then the mode door motor likely needs to be replaced and that is fortunately an easy job. After removing and reinserting the fuse you will also likely find that any pre-sets on your radio and the clock will need to be reset.
