Chrysler Repair: Engine cooling fan operation in 99 Chrysler LHS, 99 chrysler lhs, engine cooling fans

Question
Position B 30 amp fuse and position E 40 amp fuse were blown.  As you know, engine cooling fans and air conditioner compressor became inoperative.  The coolant heated to the point that the pressure cap operated, but with minimal loss of coolant which I replaced.  I replaced the fuses; one fan and the compressor now seem to function normally.  However, the other cooling fan does not operate.  The dash gauge indicates normal operating temperature, i.e., just below the mid mark.  What controls the other cooling fan and when should it function?

Answer
The PCM controls the both cooling fans on your vehicle. It will only actuate the second cooling fan when conditions warrant its operation, such as when the the A/C system pressure gets above 250 psi, if memory serves correctly. That you found 2 open fuses would lead me to believe that there is an internal short in the cooling fans. Should that be the case, you're looking at replacing the fan assembly.
