Answer
Replacement of the EGR valve is a fairly straightforward repair, if you're mechanically inclined and have a real good tool set. But on your vehicle, replacing the EGR valve is at best awkward even for those of us who do it often. We generally remove the battery to gain a little bit more working room. Using a 10mm flex socket and the Braille method removes the valve from the cylinder head. Getting it back on is just as challenging. Sorry to say there are no tricks or shortcuts. As far as just cleaning it out, don't waste your time. The fault code you have has to do with electrical portion of the valve and cleaning will do no good.
