Chrysler Repair: 1999 Dodge Intrepid, 1999 dodge intrepid, dodge intrepid

Question
I have a 1999 dodge Intrepid. Any experience with the starter burning out due to an oil leak. I read the starter is by the oil pan. Have you any experience with this happening? Replacing the starter for  the third time in 1 1/2 years. Any suggestions? Please help.

Answer
I personally haven't come across this. But if oil is leaking so badly that it actually get into the starter it can wreak havoc in not only the starter but the wiring as well. Check the wires to it to make sure they are OK and not swollen. I'd also check the main ground wire where it attaches to the engine to make sure it's tight. A bad connection or excessive resistance due to bad wiring can cause a starter to burn out prematurely. Hope this helps.
