Chrysler Repair: Car dying in idle, 97 chrysler lhs, chrysler lhs

I have a 97 chrysler LHS 3.5 that dies in idle but restarts. The oil light comes on when it dies. Occasionally in drive it will abruptly slow and the cruise light will come on for only a brief second. Any thoughts?

Hi Dereck,
The oil light coming on when it dies is to be expected. Have you tried for fault codes using the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time? Then watch the 'check engine light, which remains "on", to see it begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause, then repeat the process to be sure you have an accurate set of flash counts. Then tell me the flash counts in the order of appearance. Those will give us a good clue as to what is wrong.
