Chrysler Repair: 07 jeep 2.4L dohc: camshaft senor, jeep compass, camshaft position

Question
QUESTION: the jeep will not start code p0340 where is bank one camshaft senor? and how manysensors

ANSWER: Hi David,
I am not familiar with exactly which engine is in the Compass. I have the '06 manual on CD for Jeep's so if you can tell me which engine is used (L) I will find it in one of the models. Then I can tell you where to find the cam sensor. I haven't heard of their needing to be more than one cam sensor, even on V-engines, but I will certainly verify that once I know your engine.

QUESTION: the jeep compass is a 2.4ldohc at has two in front and two in back of the head. can you find out what is the name of the ones in front. if you go to action.publiebroadcasting.net it will show the senors but i can not read it

Answer
Hi David,
I believe you are mistaken if you believe there are 4 sensors of the camshaft position on that engine. While there are 2 cam shafts (thus 4 ends but only 2 cam sprockets of which the single sensor views one of those sprockets). The one sensor is mounted on the right side edge of the cylinder head (right from the point of view of the engine) at the front end of that side. The procedure to adjust it when installing is a bit detailed because you have to use a feeler gauge (a spark plug gap gauge tool) and would be much easier if you have the manual's text and some figures to see what is described.
Let me copy some pages from my CD manual and email them to you.
To do that please send a follow-up question but select the 'private' option. Then in that text tell me your email address. (If you don't use 'private' the email is erased from the message automatically!). I know you have to tell Allexperts your address, but I don't see it unless you put it in the text of your question.
It is an easy replacement and the pages will show you how.
