Chrysler Repair: Digital cluster 90 cluster in 91 LeBaron? , wire colors, programming details

Question
Car is a 1991 3.0L V-6 Lebaron convertible'

I've checked all the answers you've given that I can find.

Can I fit a '90 digital cluster to my '91 car using the original BCM. Can I merely splice the new plugs onto the old harness or will I need new wires from the BCM and maybe other pick up points to the cluster and/or the BCM.  For example from the ECM.  Car has concealed h/lamps and airbag but no ABS.

Answer
Hi Petel,
You didn't say if your '91 came wired for the digital cluster. If so:
It appears that all the wires you need to operate the '90 cluster are found in your '91 plugs. So it will be a matter of changing the plugs and connecting the wires to the proper pins. The pin numbers and wire colors are identical by the way. Unless there was a change in the digital data bus's programming details I would not think you need to change the BCM.  The ABS warning light wire is not there but you don't need to have that.
If not: then you will need to get 2 digital bus wires from the bcm, and I would not be certain whether the bcm will properly power the electronic cluster. I would advise that you check with the dealer parts counter to see if the bcm was identical regardless of what type of cluster is used in the '91. Also one wire from the low headlight beam fuse will be needed to be wired in.

PS Thanks for the rating and nomination. I have the factory '90 and '91 wiring manuals, and you must have the '91, correct? I can copy the pages from the '90 that you will need if you don't have those. Send me a 'private' follow-up with you postal mailinng address. Let me know how your
'91 is wired (mechanical or electronic cluster?).
