Chrysler Repair: gauges dont light up: LH body, chrysler concorde lxi, 2000 chrysler concorde lxi

Question
Hi,
I have a 2000 Chrysler Concorde lxi that starts just fine, but the gauges (speedometer, gas gauge, temp gauge) don't light up when I start the car. I replaced the 10 amp fuse for the gauges (and also the cluster) but that didn't help. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Sarah,
There are 4 fuses involved with the cluster: 1, 7, 14, 19 so check out all of those.
The cluster lighting is dimmable and should be on the same circuit as a lot of other lighted modules: headlamp switch, temp control panel, clock, radio, ash receiver, and PRNDL indication. If those are working properly, then it has to be the wire from a common splice for all of them: the splice is under the dash and goes to pin 4 of the green plug at the cluster (orange wire).
I would verify that there is variable voltage on that wire when you have the lamps on and you turn the dimmer control, and if so then I would believe that there is a loose solder joint on the circuit board where the connector from the socket pin is joined to the board. If you don't have variable voltage on the orange wire then there is an 'open' at the splice or along the orange wire proper. Let me know what you learn, please.
