Chrysler Repair: Chrysler Pacifica: Power door mirror, pacifica power, chrysler pacifica

Question
Hi Roland. I have a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica and someone hit it while parked and ripped the driver's side mirror off. I've been told it's cheaper to just pay for the mirror replacement myself than to make an insurance claim. However, the doors and windows on the drivers side won't lock, roll down, or respond to my remote since the incident. Does that mean there will be more repairs? Or will attaching a new mirror fix those problems? On a side note, one of the wires has been torn as well. Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi Janice,
There are 5 fuses that share in providing all the functions you mention that are not working, and one or more of those probably got blown in the accident. So look in the power box in the engine compartment at fuses 3, 40, 41, 46, 47 to see which of those needs to be replaced. And before you replace it, make certain that as regards either piece of the torn wire that show any exposed internal conductor at the tear is not touching any bare metal object. Cover any exposed wires with tape so as not to blow the fuse when you put a new on in. That should get you back to normal operation except for the mirror. If you get a new mirror and properly patch the wire it will probably fix things. But disconnect the battery  (or remove the 5 fuses) when you are doing the replacement and repair of the wire.
