Chrysler Repair: Snow chains for 1998 Sebring, chrysler sebring, snow chains

Question
Are there special requirements for tire chains on the 1998 chrysler sebring.  The tire size is P215/55 R16.  I just purchased one set of chains, but the clearance behind the tire is so close that I cannot get them on.  What type of chain/cable will fit?  There is snow on the road and I am trapped, so your help is appreciated.

Answer
Hi Lauren
I just checked the '96 and '00 Convert. manuals. The earlier one states that the vehicle was not designed to allow for tire chains, while the latter one says that you should consult the owners manual about tire chain capability. The spec tire size on the '96 was 185 70 R14. The '00 shows an example size of 205 75 R15. So it may very well be that the best you can do is mud/snow tires. I'm in the SF Bay Area of CA so really am not expert in what you might do. Best of luck.
