Chrysler Repair: AC/Heater on Chysler Cirrus LXI 2000, oil pressure gauge, blower motor resistor

Question
My Chysler Cirrus LXI 2000 is having problems..We have replaced the resistor and the blower motor and the switch to turn it from low to high several times and it will only work on the high setting.  When we first replace everything it will work for about 2 days on all the setting levels but after those 2 days it goes back to working on the high setting.  Is there something else we should be replacing? Also the oil light comes on when car has been running for about 15 minutes and then will go off when you hit the gas pedal and will also do it when you are idle!  The turn signals are not working or hazard lights either, so do you have any suggestions for the issues at hand?

Answer
Hi Belinda,
Chance are it is still the blower motor resistor block. When you remove the present one verify that a wire/resistor has opened up. Then when you put in a replacement, if required, make sure that the individual resistors are not touching one another as that can cause faulure. The blower motor is the other possibility for overdrawing the block, but that has been replaced.
The oil pressure light can be 'on' when at idle, but it shouldn't be so when the engine is above the rpm. It can be either the that the oil 'weight' you are using is too low (raise it one step at the next change), or the pressure sender unit (located adjacent to the oil filter) is inaccurate, or possibly the oil pressure is below spec which can be tested by means of an oil pressure gauge in placeof the sender unit. The spec is that the oil pressure should be 5 psi or more at idle, and at least 45 psi at 3,000 rpm.
On the lights, check fuse 6 (20 amp) in the box in the engine compartment and check fuse 15 (10 amp) in the box behind the end cap of the dash. Verify that the amps I have listed agree with the fuse sizes that you find, and if not, let me know as I am assuming that the '99 manual I have is valid for your '00 model.
If those are OK then the combo flasher is probably faulty. It is located under the steering column top cover which you can remove by releasing the screws on the underside of the column.
