Chrysler Repair: EVAP code, larado, grand cherokee


Question
i drive a 2000 grand cherokee Larado and my car failed the inspection, the
mechanic that did it told me his machine said that i have either a leak or a
leak switch problem,,i found the same car as mine in a junk yard and was
wondering if i could buy the pump from it. How can i tell if it works? i cant
afford to buy a new pump from chysler it is $160. can u help? the code on the
machine was showing a 4 and he told me what the code means out of this
book he had...please help broke-in -newyork!!

Hi Jerome,
Would it be possible to see if the code is written on the paper work that was given you by the inspection mechanic? Or go back to the mechanic and ask him to tell you what it was? Or you can take the vehicle to an Autozone parts store or similar nationwide parts store and ask for a free code readout, which many of the them will do for free. Once you get the readout let me know that the 4-digit fault code number is and then we should be able to get an idea as to what needs to be done/replaced.
