Chrysler Repair: towing causing damage?, wheel alignment, vibration noise

Question
I have a 2001 town and country mini van and was wondering if pulling it by winching onto a tow truck flat bed while the car's transmission is in park and the front wheels are not straight cause damage? Also unloading it this way?

Answer
Hi Estelle,
The main sort of damage that might result would be to the park position 'pawl' which is the moveable tooth which when inserted  locks the output gear in place. Do you notice any reduction in the effective function of the park position when you try using it on a slight incline (slippage/difficult to set or release)? Do you feel any malfunction (vibration/noise) in the function of the transmission since this experience? There would also be wear on the tires  that were dragged and also possibly some change in the wheel alignment which might be noticed as a pulling to one side or change in steering feel. If you don't notice anything different then probably no damage was done.
