Answer
Hi Charles,
I think you have two questions. Why the shut off after 1-2 minutes, and why the starter solenoid is not responding to the starter relay closing (I assume you mean that the relay in the power box does indeed click when you try the starter, correct?).
On the first question I would try the igntion key to see if you have any fault codes stored in the powertrain controller:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see whether the mileage reading changes to show a 4-digit number(s) preceded by a P. Let me know and we'll see what that fault code means.
On the second, I wonder if the battery might be too weak to close the solenoid and turn the starter motor, or maybe there is a short of some sort that comes into play after the engine runs for a couple of minutes. I don't know why the starter works once, but then not again until an hour later unless the battery is at the margin of its operating capability. I don't think  the engine gets warm enough in 1-2 minutes to affect the starter motor function itself. So consider charging up your battery. Do you see any charging warning light being 'on'.
How long has this gone on, and can you ever actually drive the vehicle or does it stall before you leave?
