Chrysler Repair: 97 chrysler concorde stalling/bucking, crank sensor, chrysler concorde

Question
Hi,

I spoke with you before but i guess i have sent too many followups so i had to start a new question.  i replaced the crank sensor and my dad drove the car and it continued to attempt to stall and buck upon accelerating.  engine light came back on and code p1391 is still present. i was messing with it in the driveway just revving it differently and the check engine light flickered.  so i did the self code test.  it ran 11 which it was running every time before and it also ran a new code.  45. online i found this:   Code 45: EATX controller DTC present-an automatic transmission input DTC has been set in the transmission controller.
OR
Code 45: Park/Neutral switch failure-incorrect input state detected for the park/neutral switch.

What does the first thing really mean?

Thanks

Answer
Hi Adrienne,
Did you try to reset the cam sensor using a new paper spacer?
When you put in the crank sensor did you hold the sensor with the tip of it firmly touching the hidden edge of the flex plate which it has to sense?
As I said earlier, a 1391 could be either sensor being flaky, or the 11 code is for the crank sensor.
Is this a 3.5L or a 3.3L? The 3.5L has a timing belt and that opens the possibility that one cam is out of time with the other cam or with the crank. Others have experienced this as the cause of a 1391. So that would require that you remove the timing belt covers to see if the cam marks line up, but that is a fairly detailed job so I wouldn't start on that till I was certain both the sensors were installed properly. The 3.3L engine has a timing chain which is much less likely to have experienced a timing error like I described.
The 45 code, regardless of which meaning it has, would not speak to the present problem, so that should be ignored for now.
