Chrysler Repair: Replacing serpentine belt on 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, 2004 chrysler pacifica, chrysler pacifica

Question
Hello, the top idler pulley on my wife's 2004 Chrysler Pacifica with a 3.5 engine was squealing very loudly and I could see where the pulley was slightly tilted. I replaced the pulled but now I cannot get the serpentine belt back over the new pulley. I know that you have to move the tensioner towards the rear of the vehicle to take the tension off of the belt..but cannot find any leverage point to do this. I pulled off the splash guard on the right front wheel well to see if I could access the tensioner block there, but there was no hole through the frame to get to it. Can you help>

Answer
Hi Chris,
The belt tensioner arm, at the pivot point area, is shown to have a 'lug' (three-sided protrusion) pointing toward the front of the veicle. If you put an open-ended wrench on the lug you can rotate the tensioner counter-clockwise to allow you to put the belt on. Release the tensioner gently.

PS Sorry for the delay but I just found your question in the 'pool' to which Kevin had referred it. Please "rate" my answer and where you see the question about 'volunteer of the month' consider a 'yes' answer if this proves to be helpful. Thanks
