Chrysler Repair: brake booster, master brake cylinder, abs units

Question
my mom has a 1991 chrysler imperial that apparently has some special german made brake system, the mechanic says i need a brake booster but it is not the typical brake booster they only did this for a couple of years on this car, not sure what it is called or how to locate it.  do you know anything about this special brake system, i don't think it has a master cylinder like most do? vin# ic3xy56romd184059

Answer
Hi Melinda,
The parts counter at the Chrysler dealership would be best able to answer this question. I have never heard of a system that doesn't have a master brake cylinder. Was the mechanic speaking of the anti-lock brake system part of the overall brake system? These Bendix ABS units had different model numbers over the various model years but aside from that I know of no German-made system. For example, the ABS 10 was what was used in '91. ABS 3 was used in '89, and ABS 4 in '94. I would believe that the parts needed would be available for the '91 your mother owns.
