Chrysler Repair: WHEEL SCRUBBING, wheel bearings, wheel bearing

Question
QUESTION: Roland Please Help!!!  I have a 98 Durango 318.  The problem is when I make a left hand turn the passenger side will make a scrubbing sound.  At first only every once in awhile but now it does it even if i make a quick right movement (as if avoiding trash in roadway).  Any ideas?  I am thinking wheel bearing.....

ANSWER: Hi Jeff,
I don't have experience with the truck lines, but usually wheel bearings make a groaning sound also when going straight ahead. I would look at the clearance between the tire and the fender well area for the possibility that there is splash shield that has come loose.

QUESTION: it does make a scrubbing sound if coasting around 10-20 mph may always be doing it but with wind cant't hear it.
Any other ideas?

Answer
I would jack up the wheel and rotate it by hand to see if the bearing feela rough and also listen for perhaps one of the brake pads to be rubbing on the disc. This being a rear wheel drive should limit the possibilities to the bearings or the caliper.
