Chrysler Repair: 1997 LHS No start - no spark, position sensors, engine computer

Question
1997 LHS  - What would be the best way to isolate/troubleshoot the cause of a no start/no spark problem that occurred completely "out of the blue"?

Answer
Hi Karen,
Try using the ignition key to get any fault codes from the memory of the engine computer that may shed light on what is the cause. Turn the key "on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the check engine light, which remains 'on', to see it begin to flash, pause, flash, etc. Count the number of flashes before each pause; then repeat the process to be sure of an accurate and reproducible set of flash counts. Let me know them in the order of appearance and we'll go from there. If the flashing doesn't occur, then do it again and this time watch the odometer window to see if the mileage reading is replaced by some other numbers that begin with a P. Let me know those instead if that is what happens.
I believe that one of the two engine rotational position sensors has failed and a code will tell us which one it is.
