Chrysler Repair: 05 T&C: driver window will not work, orange light, connector plug

Question
QUESTION: I had my alternator replaced, then 2 days later my factory battery replaced. Now my driver window will not work. From what I have read, it seems the motors are a problem on this model. Is it hard to replace or is there a fuse it could be?

ANSWER: Hi Paul,
There is only one fuse (#28) for the entire power window system, so if any other windows work the fuse is OK. The wires to the driver motor, at the switch control, are on pins 6 and 8 (orange/light green and orange/white, respectively). You could test the motor directly by jumping a + and - wire to those two wires after removing the switch, and reverse the polarity to move it in the opposite direction as a test of the motor. To remove the switch to do this test you simply use a thin stick of wood to pry gently around the trim bezel, starting at the bottom. Then lift the tab on the harness connector plug and remove plug. With the ignition in the accessory position you will find there to be 12v on pin 11 of the plug (white/pink) and that pin 13 (black/brown) is grounded. So do the jump between 11 and 8 and between 13 and 6 to see if the motor works, and if not try reversing the jump. If it works then the switch is the problem and you could try spraying some electrical contact cleaner inside the switch body. If the motor doesn't work then you have to remove the door trim panel and replace the motor. Send me a follow-up question and I'll tell you how to do that.

QUESTION: i found it to be the motor. my local parts store sells it with the gear attached for $75. how do you get the 3 white pins out??? man they are tough.. i pulled with pliers but no success...

Answer
Hi Paul,
Thanks for telling me about your ability to replace the motor and gear without having to also replace the window lift mechanism. Another owner of the similar van has the same problem. Would you be so kind as to give him the details as to what you did to remove the rivets and install the motor and gear? Here is his email address: Redbank76wp@aol.com
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
