Chrysler Repair: 1996 GR VOYAGER 3.0L instrument cluster, digital odometer, voyager 3

Question
QUESTION: Hi,
My instrument cluster is dead also.  Fuel/temp gauges default to a mid-range needle position and nothing else functions (no tach & mech shift indicator).  Upper display seems to function normally.  No OBDII codes.

I've read past posts and possibly your repair pages can help.  I've resoldered the connecting pins (this helped the first time), replaced the BCM (because of door lock/wiper/chime issues) and replaced the ignition switch (because of intermittent chime issues.)  The self-diagnosis didn't produce any readable results (the digital odometer stayed dead).  I do have proper voltage at the plug (pink, red/wht and blk/lt grn.)

At present considering a  boneyard replacement cluster as I need a rear door lock motor also.  Thanks for your input.

ANSWER: Hi Mark,
The black/light green wire 'voltage' I presume is 0 as that is a ground wire.
The other reason why it might be 'dead' is that the digital data bus may not be connected to the bcm or its pins may not be soldered well to the circuit board. Those wires come in on pins 9 and 10 and connect to pins 3 and 34 of the bcm, respectively. So if you verify those connections are patent then I would agree that a replacement cluster is warranted. But the way the cluster is set up, all the data is coming from that bus, so that could explain why you get nothing at all (except the cluster lighting).

QUESTION: Correct.....and data buss connection was intact.  A $20 instrument cluster from a junkyard (I had to pull it) solved the problem.  I'd guess 10% of the Chrysler vehicles at this LKQ yard were minivans.

Answer
Hi Mark,
Thanks for the update and confirmation. 'Good show' to get it fixed so inexpensively.
