Chrysler Repair: Car Horn, import models, flexible connection

Question
Hi, I have a Mitsubishi 2001 Galant.  Two out of the last 3 days my car horn has been going off.  It does it when it gets cold out in the early morning (4 - 8 AM).  I have to press the horn (the center of the steering wheel) to get it to stop but sometimes it starts doing it again a few seconds/minutes later.  The one day where it didn't wake me up, it started going off while I was driving at 7:30 AM.  I have read that the cold can contract the center of the steering wheel causing the contacts to touch.  Does this sound like the problem and is this an easy fix (I am worried about the air bag having to be removed).  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Rj,
Sorry to say I don't have any manuals for the import models. It could be the horn contacts, or it could be the clockspring flexible connection between the steering wheel and the column. But I can't give you any further direction. The air bag is connected electrically also via the clockspring so don't fear dealing with that if that is problem. Just be sure to disconnect the battery before you remove the steering wheel or the plug for the air bag.
