Chrysler Repair: Heater Fan stopped:97 minivan, blower motor resistor, intake plenum

Question
Within the past week my fan for the heater only worked sporadically, now its not blowing at all. I have a 1997 Town & Country 3.8L V-6. I'm looking for an inexpensive way to repair this myself, though I'm a bit mechnically challenged. Hopefully you can help out. The engine and temperature gauge both warm normally.

Answer
Yours is the third question today about the blower.
Did the blower work at all, like on high speed, before it stopped? If not, then start by checking the fuse #21, 40 amp, which is the 7th from the front in the large row or fuses in the power box under the hood by the battery. If that is ok. let me know and we'll go from there.
Often a part called the 'blower motor resistor block' fails but usually when it does so the fan will run on high speed for a while at least. But that would be the next thing to consider. It is located in the engine compartment, passenger side, in the fresh air intake plenum, and accessible through a square hole in the firewall. You will see a 5-wire plug going to it. You remove the plug and then insert a screwdriver to compress a spring tang on the side of it, then push the resistor block out of its mounting hole. A replacement will likely solve the problem. You might however want to jump the tan/black wire on pin 6 of the resistor block plug to ground with the ignition 'on', the control 'on', and the blower requested, and then listen for the blower motor to run or not. If not then that motor is bad.
