Chrysler Repair: 2000 sebring convert: axle nut, wheel bearing, axle shaft

Question
Is the nut that holds the wheel bearing in place use a standard thread or is it reversed. Having a hard time getting it loose.

Thanks for any help.

Answer
Hi Cal,
If you mean the single large nut on the axle shaft that protrudes through the center of the hub, no that is a standard thread. Try rocking it back and forth in case it is rusted in place. It is torques to 180 foot-pounds so you would want to have the caliper in place and have a helper step on the brake to hold it in place while you torque it counter-clockwise.
