Chrysler Repair: Chryslr 06 Sebring Starter change, 2.7L V6, line roland, starter solenoid

Question
I saw your answer to Felix (6/8/2008) about this same subject for the 2001 V-6 24 Valve DOHC Sebring.  How different is this same starter replacement for the 2006 Sebring (2.7L V6)?

Answer
Hi Kent,
Unfortunately my newest manual is an '03 supplement which doesn't have a section about the starter motor replacement. The same engine in the LH body uses this procedure:
After disconnecting battery - post cable from the remote post on the left strut tower, raise the vehicle,
remove one nut on the catalytic converter support bracket.
remove two nuts from cat. conv. support bracket mounting.
remove two wire connectors from starter...the fat battery feed wire  and the posi-lock connector from the relay to the starter solenoid
remove two bolts and one nut from starter heat shield
remove three starter attaching bolts from engine/transaxle
remove starter away from transmission housing
rotate starter solenoid toward the engine block and slide rear of starter motor out between the catalytic converter and the engine mount
remove starter from vehicle
Installation is the reverse.

I note though that the Sebring is cross-mounted while the LH is longitudinal-mounted engine so the exhaust system issues may not be identical. In fact the procedure in the '04 LH body involves supporting the engine and lifting enough to remove the left engine mount and then lifting it a bit more! So I guess you could get into almost anything. Sorry I don't have a Sebring manual that is new enough to help you. Try Kevin as he has access to the manuals on-line.
