Chrysler Repair: 91 Lebaron Convertible - no brake lights, cruise, lebaron convertible, fuse box

Question
QUESTION: Good morning Roland:

Just brought home my mothers 91 Lebaron for my 16 year old and found that the brake lights and cruise control (among many other things) do not work.  We need to have brake lights working before we can get it out on the road.  Can the brake lights and cruise control be one of the same issues? and where do we start?  thank you,

ANSWER: Hi Beth,
Start with fuse #21 (20 amp) in the fuse box under the dash on the driver's side. It plays a role in both of those systems.

Answer
Hi Beth,
You will want to check at the switch, located adjacent to brake pedal arm, to see if that has voltage on it, and when if you move the pedal the switch closes and voltage crosses the switch.
Do use a voltmeter or 12V neon glow lamp and go under the dash and find the brake pedal arm and notice a switch that is spring-loaded and whose push-button should pop out of the switch when you push on the pedal. That is the brake stop light/abs alert switch. There should be 12V on the pink/dark blue wire (which comes from fuse #21) by touching the contact for that wire and a nearby shiny chassis surface (against which you should see 12V or the glow lamp to light. Then see if the white/tan wire at the switch shows 12V when you move the pedal. Then let me know what you found. Also, similarly check that there is 12V on both contacts of the #21 fuse socket when compared to a shiny metal surface.
