Chrysler Repair: Transmission stuck in park/is it on a slope?, manual override, force of gravity

automatic transmission with manual override. gear shift will not disengage from park. Car was backed into the driveway last time it was used.

Hi JP,
If the driveway is tilted, then probably the pressure of gravity on the drivetrain transmitted to the park "pawl" has that pawl jammed. Have some helpers push on the vehicle to relieve the force of gravity and the tension will release sufficiently to take it out of park.
