Chrysler Repair: 97 3.5L egr valve/transducer-solenoid, egr solenoid, vacuum hoses

Question
I have a 1997 Dodge Intrepid 3.5L. I am getting a code P0401 which is EGR insufficient flow. While trying to find the EGR, I noticed that there was a small component with numbers 4B with a circular plastic base. Close to it was a black plastic ring about 2" in diameter that was unattached. I would very much appreciate if you could help me here. My questions are: 1. Where the heck is the EGR on that car. 2. What is that 4287 634 066B component? 3. Could this component possibly be causing my EGR problem? 4. How does this loose ring assemble?
I very much appreciate any assistance that you can provide.

Answer
Hi Andy,
The part you referenced by number is in fact the egr valve itself* and is mounted on the rear of the right side cylinder head. The other parts of which you speak may well be the egr vacuum transducer and the egr solenoid which are to be attached to oneanother to form a single component. There are two vacuum hoses between the transducer and the valve and a vacuum line from the intake manifold to the solenoid and a wire to the solenoid. If the solenoid and transucer have separated then they either can be reconnected or you need to get a new one. The hose routing is shown on the underhood sticker that shows the emission control systems. The valve itself may also need to be loosened up to function properly and I can tell you how to do that, but let's get the hoses and the transducer/solenoid setup corrected first.
