Chrysler Repair: Pt Cruiser stutter, performance roland, mixture control

Question
I have a 2001 Pt Cruiser, and I'm having a problem with it stuttering and hesitating while the AC is on.  It seems to drive fine while the air is off, but once I turn it on I lose power and it will hesitate and stutter when I take off.  I've replaced all spark plugs (gapped them correctly), spark plug wires, and egr valve. Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Jared,
It sounds like the engine may be starved for fuel when subjected to the added load of the compressor. That would lead me to focus on the mixture control. Have you checked for any fault codes? Either get a free readout at an Autozone or use the ignition key:"on-off-on-off-on and leave on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see it replace mileage with some 4-digit fault code numbers with a P prefix. Let me know any such number and we can go from there. You might try cleaning out the throat, idle by-pass passageway, and both sides of the butterfly plate of the throttle body as having crud at that area compromises low rpm performance.
