Answer
Hi Musa,
As you know, the failure to upshift to third is called limp-in mode and suggests that you get a fault code readout. An Autozone parts store will do that for free.
Harsh shifts can be due to damaged clutches that are inside the transmission and can only be repaired by taking it apart. It also could be due to the gear shift lever not being adjusted well to the shift rod at the transmission, so check for that simple adjustment to be sure that is not the cause. The other thing to try changing is the valve body which you have to do by dropping the oil pan to get to it directly above the pan. A clogged internal filter could also cause low fluid pressure so you could look to see if that was the cause when you drop the pan. And don't forget getting a fault code readout which I mentioned earlier in the history of the problem:
"I do recommend that you find someone with an OBD-II fault code reader as 'throwing parts' at the problem is never economically rewarding. And the system is too complex with chances for a failed repair process too high to start taking things apart that may not be broken."

PS Given the history of problems that occur with the electronic transaxles as they reach the 100,000 mile or so distance, I would be very reluctant to get a 2nd hand unit at a junk yard because the transmission may be the reason it is there. A vehicle with lower miles that was in a crash might be a better choice to find a useable replacement trans.
